According to our sources, honey liqueur has been a Polish DIY staple for about 400 years. In Poland, it is known as Krupnik, a vodka sweetened with honey and infused with spice. It is very likely that our Jewish ancestors imbibed at their Rosh Hashana tables..
Ingredients
2/3 cup honey
1/2 cup water
1" piece orange zest (no pith)
1 cinnamon stick
1 1/2 cups vodka
Directions
Simmer the honey, water, cinnamon and orange zest stirring frequently, until syrupy. Scrape off any white foam
Cool,and remove cinnamon and orange zest. Add vodka and pour into a sealable glass jar. Let rest at least 12 hours. Store in the refrigerator for up to 6 months
